Default PNP V WP

Hi,

Ive just been looking at the pilot pnp scheme for ontario.
Anyone any opinions if this is a quicker, better route than TWP and PR once there.
Didnt even know ontario was starting a pnp scheme, my occupation is on the list yeah!!

Andrew Miller is an unknown quantity at this point

Applications with Arranged Employment are processed with same priority (and same timescale) as applications with PNP selection certificates.

Ontario's PNP is too new to even guess what will be processing time for PNP selection certificate application. Thus it is rather impossible to tell you which one - work permit or PNP certificate - will be faster. After you get one the PR federal stage in visa post will take same time for both.

If you can get a Work Permit without the HRDC confirmation bit (i.e. because your occupation is in-demand and exempt from having to get this) then WP would be fastest of all (perhaps only a few weeks). But if you need to get the HRDC confirmation for a WP then the PNP route could potentially be quicker.

If you apply through PNP and get the provincial nomination (obviously you still then need to submit the federal application too) then you should be able to get a WP without the LMO because being a Prov Nominee exempts you (at least thats how I understand it). So going for PNP first wouldn't be a bad strategy in either case I wouldn't have thought.
