Well it came today - we are using an immigration lawyer so it went to them - I was told it was going to be an email but from reading it may have been a letter as we were told to take original of copr to border which lawyers are sending by courier! Sorry not clear but I'm assuming it was an actual letter so hopefully yours should be with you soon!!
Eventful day for us - our house sale in montreal was finalized today and now we have pr

AINP (Alberta PNP) nomination received about October 10,2014
PR Application received by CIO Sydney October 16, 2014
'Placed in process' email' received March 19,2015
It had been nearly 5 months without hearing a word from CIO Sydney, sure am glad to get my 'placed in process' email today !
I paid my permanent residence fee when I sent the application in.
Anyone know how long it may be before they ask for updated police records ,and medical exam?

Humgarden if you sent in police records with your original application then they should suffice. Medical exam - I was requested to do mine before going into 'in progress' but others on this forum have reported doing after going into 'in progress' so it should be soon...
Eddmac - my application was received April 2014 but I didn't go into 'in progress' until feb 2015 so yes I'm afraid you could be waiting a while yet. Although there doesn't seem to be a pattern to it as people have reported all sorts of different timelines. Hopefully yours will go through quicker as you would have one of the last through on the old system. Good luck!

My application was received October 2013 and went into progress may 2014 - decision made 10/3/2015 - took blooming ages - don't ask me why! We submitted medicals in December 2013 (re-done feb 2015) and police checks were submitted with application!

received request for medicals March 24,
I looked at my status online and it is 'Application Received' , but my email from March 19, says 'placed in process' , so there is several ways we get processed:
• Application for Permanent Residence Outside Canada
• Application for Permanent Residence in Canada
• Application for Permanent Residence - Federal skilled Worker submitted to Sydney, Nova Scotia
Medical exams are booked up till April around Edmonton,Red Deer,Lloydminster,Medicine Hat, found a place in Calgary on a Saturday, hope it works out.

Hooray I have mine through as well - so relieved. They received my application in April 2014 for PR (through BC PNP), had medicals in May, application went to "in process" end of Jan 2015, "decision made" was some time in mid-March, and letter of confirmation received March 31, 2015! And we were going to the States this weekend anyway, so perfect timing
Hang in there guys, it will happen
