Arrow Please explain...

What is AOR please?

It is good how you all have your time lines and dates under your names and under your posts.....but how do you do that?

Also, what does the time line consist of?

We have applied through a Toronto Lawyer......did the online assessment, got the 'your a damn fine family and we will get you in' letter , paid a little spondolicks, were then sent the application pack, filled all that in and now had the hard copies back for signing to send to immigration in London with all our certs and references etc. Sending them this weekend!

SO.....what happens next?????

Been told that from the date of receipt in London, it will be 8 months to 1 yr....is this right?

Thanks for any advise

Acknowledgement of Receipt, just says they have received your application. For completion your are looking at least 19-30 months, previous averages, could be longer. see: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/departm...illed-fed.html

We wish... applying for PR now in London you're looking at over two years to get the visa.

Me confused also, "8-12 months", our timeline was 21 months end-2-end and that was before the great big CIC slowdown and backlog party. Is lawyer a mentalist ? buy snake oil bonds now !!!

These lawyers that quote ridiculously quick timeframes really hack me off!!!

I don't know why they do that and then get people's hopes up! The official quoted timeframes, from CHC, are at 30 months right now. Granted you may get lucky and get your meds through a little sooner than that but that is not the norm at the mo.

It is frustrating but that is life. Ask to see the hard copy of your AOR when it comes through, it will have a timeframe on it.

Here's hoping we don't have to wait as long as CHC say

Hi HWK,

2 things to start,

1) you can edit your timeline into your signature by clicking the "my profile" at the top of this page and then "edit signature" on the left side.

2)take a look at the website www.yogi799.com where you will find some actual timelines for each visa post (including London and Paris) to give you a feel when you can expect AOR, IA, medicals,......and finally PPR. But remember every case is different and yours may be too.

more later

MENTALIST EXPLAINED:

men·tal·ism ( P ) Pronunciation Key (mntl-zm)
n.
Parapsychological activities, such as telepathy and mind reading.
The belief that some mental phenomena cannot be explained by physical laws.

mental·ist n.
mental·istic adj.

see also: http://skepdic.com/mentalist.html

Mentalist:

"Brilliant scientists and interested laymen who cannot detect how a magician produces a dove from an empty silk handkerchief or conjures an orange under an inverted teacup are not likely to discover the subtle secrets of a mentalist without prolonged study." --Milbourne Christopher, ESP, Seers & Psychics

A mentalist is a performer who uses trickery and deception to create the illusion of having paranormal or supernatural powers.

Mentalists and psychics rely on their subjects' selective thinking. For example, James Randi tells the story of Peter Hurkos, who was astonishing people with his ability to recite intimate details about their homes and their lives. Two of the persons who had their minds read by Hurkos and who were amazed at his accuracy were invited by Randi to watch a tape of the mind readings. It was "discovered by actual count that this so-called psychic had, on the average, been correct in one out of fourteen of his statements.... Selective thinking had led them to dismiss all the apparent misses and the obviously wrong guesses and remember only the 'hits.' They were believers who needed this man to be the genuine article, and in spite of the results of this experiment they are still devoted fans of this charlatan" (Flim-Flam!, 7).

he-he ..... hence a 24-30 month wait becomes an 8-12 month wait, as if by magic !
