hello All,
Me and my husband are planning to move to Calgary. We wanted to know if any body has applied for LMO. We are in process to start our applicaton for LMO and wanted to know how successful it is so far and how long does it take.
We really want to move to Calgary asap.
Hoping for some positive response.
p.s:- we are in process of buying a business in calgary.

My LMO was for Saskatchewan and it took 9 weeks to come in. I think generally you will find it takes anywhere from 8-12 weeks.
If you do a search on here, you will find several threads dedicated to LMOs in different provinces.
Good luck!

Hi
Your employer has to apply for an LMO for you. You secure a job with a company and then they have to apply for the LMO. Then if it's positive then you can apply for a temporary work permit. Usual time in Alberta I believe is about 8 - 11 weeks. We are awaiting to see if ours has been approved.
Not sure how it works if you are buying a business. Am sure someone will come along soon and help you out with that one

Once your employer has applied for the LMO (it's not something you can do), it'll take around 10-12 weeks to get.
But if you're buying a business, are you using that to get a visa? If so, I can't see how a LMO is applicable to you, unless of course you're going to be working there before buying it.
Good luck.

Hi Guys,
Thank you for your replies. We are dealing with Campbell Cohen solicitors firm, they said through intra company transfer and LMO we can buy a business there.
Bit tricky but Alberta had diff rules for Enterprenuer program and is not very open to this program either hence we hve to think of this route.

Seems a bit odd that they're talking about a LMO though, as LMO isn't normally required for intra-company transfer? Here is the Wiki article about it for info........http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Intra-...ransfer-Canada

Yep, no LMO is needed for intra-company transfer. See the immigration handbook, page 52 onwards from memory...
I am just jumping through the hoops myself as my employer can't wait any longer for my PR.
The biggest things are: 1) Proof of relationship to the uk company (that must continue trading) and 2) Showing you are a manager / have specialist skills.
C&C will be able to point you in the right direction.

I'm not sure exactly what service Taffcan is offering to provide, but do bear in mind that only lawyers or licensed consultants are able to provide immigration (i.e. visa related) services.
