Default Permits and travel restrictions

Hi all,

its been a while since I last posted here! Anyway, my husband has applied to study in Canada and I have submitted an application for a work permit on the back of his study permit. However, if travel restrictions for international students aren't changed soon, my husband would not be exempt to travel once his permit is approved.

In the eventuality that my work permit is approved, if hypothetically I was able to get a job offer, under the current exemptions, could we all still travel to Canada?

Also, would my permit only be approved once my husband’s study permit is processed?

Thanks!

If applying for a spousal open work permit on the back of your husbands study permit it is based on his study permit being issued. If no study permit issued then you wouldn't get a spousal open work permit.

Thanks! Yeah I thought so, I was just curious as the processing time is quite a bit lower at the moment for work permits than study ones so it just crossed my mind.
