Default Payment of fees - CHC London

On the CHC London website and Immigration fee schedule it says that the CHC does not accept "Canadian dollar drafts drawn on banks outside of Canada".

I am currently in Dubai, does that mean I cannot use a bank not represented in Canada? For example I have used HSBC and Barclays bank in the UK. Could I use Dubai Bank in Dubai? Otherwise I cannot pay them!

Thanks

You need to ask bank to issue you a draft in Canadian dollars, drawn on bank in Canada and made payable to "Receiver General for Canada" - it doesn't matter where your bank is, they will know what to issue if you ask exactly for the above.

Thanks. So what exactly does drawn on a bank in Canada mean? I.e. How will I know what the bank gives me is drawn on a bank in Canada? I have to make sure, as people around here have a habit of saying " no problem sir" without really understanding what you're asking them for.

Where your personal cheque would say "my Branch, my town, anywhere" this cheque will say "Any bank, Canadian town, Canada".

For example the cheque I would order from my local HSBC UK will be issued from one of HSBC's canadian currency accounts in canada, not issued from their UK accounts. All the big banks have canadian dollar accounts in Canada, I would think it'd be hard to order a canadian cheque that *wasn't* drawn on a bank in Canada these days.

You can always ask your bank just to double check
