Hi and a happy new year.
I have been using this site for over a year and i am hoping to visit Canada late this year. My grandfather is Canadian and has lived in the UK since 1939. I have always felt a closeness to Canada. i am 36 now and since having our son three years ago, both me and my partner feel if we were to leave the UK then now would be the time.
I am self employed ( and have been since 1997) as a domestic appliance engineer and i also retail kitchen appliances. I own 50% of my home the rest is mortgaged and i have a 50% stake in a small property with my brother. If i was to sell up i would over $300,000 in todays exchange rate.
My question, what would the best approach for me to apply for PR ?
Also what tips could be advised?
I have thought maybe to invest in a small business, i use www.pin.ca as i am not sure if i could get in as a skilled worker.
I hope you can help, if not thank you for reading this.

Investing in small business won't help you immigrate if you can't meet qualifications criteria in Business class - and from what you described it seems that you most likely can't, at least not under federal program.
