passports request's
hello
yes we know we have not been on here for so long, we do appologise for that, we have just receved a request for our passports saying that we have reached the final stage of our application, it aslo said that we will be issued with a temp visa, what does this mean excatly, as we are applying for PR is this just another section of the application we need to get through before we receive our PR cards.
thanks
paul

I don't know the answer to what you're asking, I don't quite understand the question as we're still waiting for our passport request...
But, I wanted to ask, when did you do your medicals?

Re: passports request's
our medicals were done in march below is the letter
Your application has reached the final stage of processing. Please follow the instructions in the attached letter carefully. Your file number is indicated in the subject line of this email. It is a 'B' followed by 9 digits.
Unless your passport or the passport of one of your accompanying family members (if any) expires on an earlier date, your permanent resident visa(s) will all expire on 03rd March 2011.
are we being stupid, if we have appled for PR why does it say this above

Not being stupid, your PR visa's expire exactly one year after your medicals, so you have to 'land' within that time or start all over again basically!
Congratulations!!
(G77 still routing for ya)!!

Re: passports request's
thanks for that, but we have been in canada for 18 months now, i wonder if its just a standard letter then

Re: passports request's
As the other poster mentioned you have 1 yr from the date of your medical to do this, or you have to start again.
The PR process for landing is no different whether you have been in Canada waiting to receive it or elsewhere.
You can either drive to the border and flag pole when you get your passports back or contact CIC local office in Halifax and make an appointment to go and "land" there instead.
congrats

Re: passports request's
You have been in for 18months but not as permanent residents so you have to leave Canada and 'land' again as PR's, this is what needs to be done within one year of your medicals...hope this makes sense? I am assuming you have been on temp visa's up until now?

Yep make sure you cross the border and come back in to do your landing, let the border officers know you are landing, if you do not land within the timeline which is a year from medicals you will loose your PR status... Please dont ignore the letter.

Re: passports request's
you dont have to necessarily flag pole unless you want to, you can "land" at an office in Halifax if you want to
