Default Passport number

Hi,

I have recently got my immigration to Canada. However, the validity of my indian
passport expires in the next three months. So, if I get a new passport issued to me
before I immigrate to Canada, do I need to get my immigration papers re-validated
since it now contains my old passport number ?

On the other hand, if I immigrate to Canada before the validity of my Indian Passport
expires, then do I need to get my Immigration papers revalidated when I get a new
Indian Passport issued to me ?

Thanks for your help, Regards, Pramila Govindarajan

Default Re: Passport number

If your passport expires soon then your landing paper expires as well as it cannot be
valid beyond the validity of your passport anyway, so you need to land in Canada
before that. When in Canada then you may renew your Indian passport and there will be
no "re-validation" of your landing document at all. Just to be on the safe side
always carry your old passport (or at least certified copy of it) together with the
new one when entering Canada to avoid any unnecessary questioning.

After June 28 when in Canada you will apply for new PR Card anyway - it will replace
your landing document.
