Default Passport Lost before Landing. Please Help?

Hi,
It seems like my passport has been lost in mail while it was coming
back from Buffalo with my Landing Papers. I am currently in Canada on
a work permit.
I am applying for a new Passport. My question is what should I do
next? Should I notify Buffalo first or just send my passport along
also? How long does it take for Buffalo to be notified and reissue
landing papers.
Thanks,
Rahul

Sometimes mail to Canada isn't lost but just extremely delayed. Just this year in January, a birthday card sent to my husband (in Toronto) from his friend in Detroit took a month and a half to arrive. We had given it up for lost in the mail when it finally arrived about 7 weeks after it had been mailed! Detroit is only a 4 hour drive from Toronto so it isn't like this was a long distance. Before I moved up here, a birthday card he sent me (from Toronto to Alabama) took 6 weeks to arrive via Xpresspost!

Don't be surprised if it finally does arrive sometime in April.

That birthday card wasn't ultimately lost, but it certainly was lost for a
time. Your reply is not too encouraging!

Better to finally receive it than for it to be lost forever.
