Default Panicking - had a cheque back from CIC no idea what for :(

My partner and I have an outland sponsorship application in progress.

I sent off the application along with the fees up front for everything ($1075 in total, $75 for sponsor processing, $475 for my processing and $550 RPRF). Recieved a cheque in the post from CIC today (well hubby did) for $465. (obscure number)

I am panicking like mad as to why this would be and what it would be for

They approved him as a sponsor at the beginning of August and Ecas shows as "application recieved" for my pr.

We've had no correspondance to say that anything has been refused so i'm pretty much worried sick right now as to why they would send this money back.

Does this mean that they have refused my pr application and are sending back a portion of the fees.

If anyone can shed some light on this i'd be very grateful, I may not sleep tonight

I only know that when we applied for PR we had to pay $550 each when we submitted the paperwork then $490 each when they approved it. Perhaps you were a bit too excited and paid too much. It will be ok Mand :f ingerscrossed:

Thanks Lorna but I don't think thats the case, I calculated the fees just right.

Have been doing some research and it looks like if your application is denied at initial review they send you your RPRF fee back.

I hope to god this isn't the case

Actually the fees are $550 + $490 for the RPRF. total $1040. No idea how come you would get $465 back. Hasn't been refused, if it was a refusal, you would have received a refusal letter from the overseas office, and would have got an appeal letter at the same time.
