Default Packing of goods to follow

Hi everyone, sorry to have yet another "goods to follow" question but here it is:

In an attempt to utilise space in the boxes we are using to pack all our bits and pieces, most of the boxes have an assortment of items in them, e.g. one box might contain some books, a wedding gift, a paperweight and some clothes.

Do we have to list every single item in every box (we have nearly 50 boxes). If not, how would we itemise boxes containing an assortment of items.
Also, do we need to estimate the current value of every single item we are importing.
Sorry for so many questions but we are a bit confused with the whole "goods to follow" issue.

You can lump items together and list them that way with the total value of the "lump". Expensive items should be listed separately and if truly valuable you should have an appraisal for them and perhaps a photograph. Most do not need that.
