Default Outland common law application and letter from employer / p60's

Hi
We are currently in the process of completing our application for common law sponsorship for my partner. We are living in London so will be applying from here. I am canadian.

Ok so just to clarify, I do not need to send any financials as we are going the common law route, is this correct? No p60's etc. As I have been on maternity leave and am now working part-time I would not currently meet the minimum requirements although I usually would have been fine.

Also do I need to send a letter from my employer? I haven't asked for one as of yet as we are not planning on moving until this time next year and to be honest my job is a little bit tenuous at the moment as I work in the public sector. It doesn't seem relevant?

Thanks is advance for the helpful advice.
Lisa

Hi Lisa,

You will still need to provide your income information on the forms when you fill them in, however, as it is a spousal (common-law) application there is no minimum amount which allows you to put down your income as $0 if that is what you made.

When I sponsored my common-law OH I did not have a P60 as I was working in the UK for the previous tax-year. I included a brief letter stating the reason why I wasn't including the P60 form in my application.

I did include a letter from my employer in my application, but I do not believe it is necessary for spousal sponsorship as there is no income requirements. I had included it as my last years employment included working for 2 different employers and self-employment. I thought it would help indicate stability by including the letter.

Our application was approved with no additional info requested.

I hope this helps!
