Default outdated police certificates or not

Hi. I lived in China and Japan for several years respectively before I came to US. I
got the police non-crime certificates from China and Japan half a year ago. Now I
want to apply for the Canada Green Card. I didn't go to China or Japan for many
years. It shouldn't matter if the certificates were half a year old. But the
immigration document says all police certificates must be within half a year. Can I
use those outdated certificates? Thanks for your help.

First as many have pointed out, Canada does not have a green card.

It does matter.

No you cant, and if you go ahead and use them anyways, chances are pretty good
that the CHC will ask you for current ones later, which will only add to the
processing times.

If you can clearly document that you had not returned, then it may be possible for an
immigration official to accept these clearance results. A better strategy, however,
would be to submit these clearances, and to obtain new clearances by correspondence
for submission to the visa office.
