Ophthalmologist report help?
Hi, whilst having my medical for PR the physician has asked for more information from an Ophthalmologist. i never realised my eyes were a concern as I’ve worn contact lenses/ glasses with a prescription of -4.25 in my right eye and -3.75 in the left. No other problems but apparently that’s classed as bad and I need a report. The guy from Specsavers have been absolutely useless in the UK and can’t email anything over due to data protection! (Do I care who knows my eye prescription?!) has anyone else had this and whats the next step? I’m working in a corfu Greece for the summer so can’t get back to England. thanks lucy |

Has anyone else had this? The guy didn’t even look into my eyes he just asked what my prescription was. Its just a report to say the pressure and my eyes are healthy (which they are as I was tested at Specsavers a month ago) but there’s no form to be filled in is there? |

I doctor doing the exam so t look into your eyes as they are probably not qualified to determine if there is an issue, hence the requirement for a report from a medical doctor who is. https://www.zennioptical.com/blog/op...iAAEgJH3vD_BwE the medical has certain thresholds that require referral and report from other doctors. It may be your prescription is beyond such a threshold. |

So the question might then be, did other people's medicals include what their eye prescription was and was there (what reason) a further report needed?
My eyesight 'test' amounted to reading the letters on the chart, with my prescription glasses on. I confused the guy because with my second eye, the top lines were so clear I began reading from a lower line. I did explain the top lines were so clear I was reading lower but that still confused him. :lol: |

I did explain the top lines were so clear I was reading lower but that still confused him. :lol: spot on Bristol, i didn’t even take an eye test to show my glasses and contacts were perfect. it was just that if anyone has had to submit more Information how much did they include? the physician told me not to worry at all but now I am! |

The guy from Specsavers will be an optometrist. An ophthalmologist would require a referral as he/she is a consultant medical doctor.
+1 - Plus... Medical Services of Immigration Canada will usually require you to obtain a report from an Ophthalmologist of their choosing - you don't usually arrange this yourself :) The Panel Physician (the doctor who undertook your Immigration Medical) should have notified you of who you have to go and see - usually by letter. If they haven't informed you who you need to see, you should contact them and ask. Have a look at 'furtherance reports' here: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration....html#chap4.10 Panel physicians are responsible for the following: Referring the client for additional testing or to an appropriate specialist for consultation (see sample IMM 5734 Specialist’s Referral Form in Appendix III); Selecting the specialist (the client may not select his/her own specialist, although the client’s previous medical records may be provided along with the additional requested reports); and Completing the furtherance requirements and submitting results to the RMO. |
