Default One way or return, family or not, for TWP applicant.

Hi,

I'm flying out at the beginning of Jan to start my new job on a TWP. I've noticed flights can be cheaper return rather than one way. Are there any problems with booking a return flight and then not taking the return option?

I know Zoom do fairly cheap single flights but they aren't flexible enough with the dates.

I've also notified the Canadian authorities of my accompanying family. Do they HAVE to fly out with me or can they arrive at a later date?

It would make sense for me to fly out first and get some accommodation sorted before they arrive.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi Bobt
Not sure how it all works with a TWP, but I'd be pretty sure you'd be better off with a return plane ticket rather than a one way. I think the airlines/Immigration can be a bit funny with passengers (who are not residents) with one way tickets and some will only let you fly if you have a return ticket. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong pls!! )

Also, I don't beleive your family have to fly out with you straight away. You can land first and then your family can follow once you're sorted out if thats the way you choose to do it. I'm sure there is a time limit on when you all have to move over though which you may want to make a note of.

Good luck

Hi
We came to Canada on a one way ticket on TWP in October 2005 and had no problem with immigration in Calgary. The whole family came together so can't help with other part of the question.
