Obtaining Indian Police Certificate
How do I obtain Indian Police Certificate for the Canadian Immigration?

If you are outside India , go to the Indian consulate and make a request there. They usually take a couple of weeks to process it. I got mine in 3 weeks.

I've heard that even if you're outside India, you have to get it from your home country/city police station. Is it true?

My assumption is you don't have to get it, the Canadian Secret or the
Canadian Security service does that for you.Am I right????

Contrary to what's posted on their web site, the CIC do ask you to get a police clearance certificate from India.

Search for my earlier post on IPC ..
But in short there are 2 ways..
1>
If you are outside india then this is the way .. Contact your local indian embassy and mail your passport with the application..
It will cost about 40$ and take 3-8 weeks.
2>
If you are in india or know some super cop ..
Apply at the local crime branch .. it cost 100 Rs and takes 6 weeks ..
Also you can payoff the cop and get it sooner..
I paid 1000 Rs to get mine .. other have got it for Rs400 or lesser depending on you economic situation which btw the nosy cops will try to find out before deciding on the amount..

You can get PCC from Indian Consulate. But people from India need not
submit PCC from India and they get it on their own.
I heard that some Indians were asked by CIC to submit PCC.

FALSE. If you are outside India, you HAVE to go to the Indian Embassy
