Default non resident children qeury

"Wouldn't wish this situation on anyone but we can't be the first. Have been thru' whole app. procedure/sold house/passed meds and police checks only to find husbands children from previous marriage need meds(agent didn't pick up on it till now) even though they're not coming with us. Ex-wife refused to let them have meds(delay so far nearly 2 months) and so we find someone he was with 9 years ago can decide whether or not we go-are we the only ones who find this absurd(not to mention devastating)?"

This is a message from the Australia forum and although it refers to Oz immigration, I was wondering does this apply to Canada as well?

I have an 8 year old daughter who lives with the ex and wont be emigrating with us. Surely I don't have to get meds for her as well...anyone have any answers? How much other info will the immigration people need on my daughter i.e. will they need photos of her etc...

It sounds the same. I am in a similar situation. my ex refuses to help in any way. we have joint legal, but he has sole physical. i know my kids want to come with me as soon as they are old enough and i was warned that if i do not sponsor them now, i never will be able to.
So what I did, was I waited until I had my visitation time with my kids, then took them myself to do the medicals.
It cost me $150 USD each to get done.

Your daughter must undergo medicals as well. You may ask to exclude her from
medicals but in such case she will also be excluded from family class and
you will never be able to sponsor her. So, in her best interest (as she may
want to be sponsored later) is to undergo medicals now and your ex should
understand it as well.
