Default New passport, 2 year work visa in old passport

Hi,

So my passport is tuning out of pages pretty quickly only 4 or so left and I think I need to get a new one. But my current visa, is tied to my current passport and the passport number. I imagine that my new passport will have a different number. So what happens if I get a new one? I hope it doesn't invalidate my 2 year work permit. If I just hold on to the old passport as well, will keep my visa valid.

All responses greatly appreciated.

Thank you

keep the old Passport , it doesn't matter if it gets expired as long as you have a valid visa in it , some people travel with two passports attached for the exact same reason

Its a work permit not a visa. Just take the work permit out of the old passport and put it in the new one and thats it.
Carry the old one if it makes you feel more secure.

Thank you for the replies, just one more question.

What is the difference between a work permit and a visa?

A visa is a counterfoil that is affixed to a passport page and which means you have to send off the passport to a Canadian consulate or VAC. UK citizens holding UK passports don't do this. It clearly states VISA on the counterfoil.

A work permit is a permit. No need to send off a passport to get one. Most are issued by application or by applying at a Port of Entry. You cannot apply for a visa at a POE.
Have you got a counterfoil in your passport?
