The following is new info by cic.I hope it helps your cause.
The CIC PR Card Call Centre has some updated information on their voice mail message system for people who are in an "urgent situation" regarding their PR Card.
CIC may consider your situation urgent under the following conditions: you are travelling outside of Canada and will be returning to Canada by commercial carrier (land, sea, air) after December 30, 2003 and you do not have a PR Card.
Their message indicates 2 situations.
1. You have not submitted your PR card application yet, have a plane ticket and are returning after December 30, 2003. You can request that file be processed urgently. Here's how:
Write "Urgent! Proof of travel enclosed" on the envelope you send your application in with.
A CIC agent will examine your application when it is received.
The CIC message did not indicate how long it would take to process your request or when or how you would be contacted.
2. You have already submitted your PR Card application - You are currently in Canada as a Permanent Resident, have submitted your PR Card application, have plans to travel and come back using commercial carrier after December 30, 2003.
Send the following information by fax to 514-496-8670:
Surname and given name
Client ID number (if available)
Date of Birth
Home address
Phone number
Email address (if available)
Copy of Plane ticket
Copy of passport pages showing your name, date of birth and photograph
If you provide all of the information listed above, your application will be examined and you will be contacted within 2 business days.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.

Thanks for the information.
I'm travelling from January 2nd to January 24th to the States. I had
submitted my application for the PR Card in November and I am hoping to get
the card in time. I will fax the processing centre tomorrow and will let
everyone know what kind of response/turn around (run-around?) I get.

Yes, I faxed them - last week (the 10th I think) and no, I haven't heard
anything yet. I will probably try to re-fax everything and see if that
helps - I suppose it wouldn't hurt.

Which CPC (case processing center) is responsible for issuing PR card? Does it have a web site?

After checking the online status, if it shows that ur card is ready then visit the CIC St. Clair office to pick up ur card, Everything will be alright, U'll not face any problem as the people there r very polite and cooperative.

Hi John,
My new PR Card is ready for pick up. Unfortunately, I missed the date.
My concern is can I go to CIC St. Clair office on any day and at any
time to pick up my card or do I have to take a prior appointment. I
also wanna know can I pick up on this coming Saturday, December 27,
2003. I know their official holidays for chritmas are 25th and 26th.
Can you please let me know that they (CIC) are working on 27th?
Further, I would also like to mention that they (CIC) asked me to
bring the following documents when you come to pick up your card:
1. Landing Paper
2. Passport
3. Government issued ID
I do have my Landing Paper and Passport. I do not have a driving
license or a health card. Do they (CIC) accept my SIN card as
government issued id?
Please response. Thank you.
Best regards and merry christmas.
