Default New here, could do with advice

Hi all,

brain hurts from reading so many topics on this great forum. If someone has the time to help out with some quick advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Basically myself and my wife are looking to emigrate to Canada, details:

Myself:

UK citizen 38 years old, 5 years as Police Officer in UK, basic education (secondary school etc.)

Wife: UK citizen 26 years old, Masters in Business and Economics, manager for large company, has Uncle living in Candada

We have no kids and not a lot of money either.....

What are our options for moving to Canada?

What province is her uncle in? Some provinces have provision for family sponsorship.

Otherwise you are in the same boat as everyone else, namely find a job and come that way, unless her company is large enough and international enough for a transfer to a Cdn arm to be a possibility.

Hi, and welcome to BE.

From what you've said, one of you will need a job offer, or you'll need to move to a province with a more 'open' PNP (NS and MB), or one of you could go on a study permit, or............??? Where is your wife's Uncle and what is his status in Canada?

There are over 50 routes to a visa for Canada, and without knowing everything about you it's a bit hard for us to advise you better, but I'd suggest you start with this Wiki page and have a good read - http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Quick_...an_Immigration Do bear in mind that you wouldn't be able to work as a police officer until you are a PR of Canada, so if you go over on a Temp Work Permit or similar, you'd need to do something else.

Once you've figured out which visa route might be your best option, then you can come back and ask more questions about it.

HTH, best of luck.

Hi there and welcome to the forum There are a few options for you to explore. The main ones would be to try to apply for Permanent Resident visa's before moving to Canada. This essentially means you could emigrate first, then look for work once you arrive, or you could try to secure a job from the UK and come out on a temporary work permit which will enable you to start the immigration process from within Canada.

To read more about the various ways to be able to come to Canada, you can get loads of info from the Wiki section on this forum or go to www.cic.gc.ca.

Hope this helps.
