Thx for posting that. Blimey, only 3000 applications though, they'll all go pretty quickly!

Probably an announcement on 7 Jan all places filled
Though Im sure this isnt to be confused with the FSW programme that hasnt been announced yet. Arent the 3000 only for the skilled trades as opposed to the FSW programme?

Yes, it's a separate program. But 3000 places is not much, and it'll fill very quickly imo. It'll be interesting to see if it's just a 'free for all', or if they limit each eligible NOC code to a certain number of applications, as with FSW.

Note the first requirement"

have an offer of employment in Canada or a certificate of qualification from a province or territory to ensure that applicants are “job ready” upon arrival;

It won't be that quick - hurdles to jump through first.

I agree Amy, it also looks like there will be a list of eligible jobs so that will limit the apps going in too.....I wonder if the job offer part will be the same as temp workers - LMO's etc - any thoughts?

I had noted that, but it doesn't alter my view that it will fill pretty quickly! I guess it'll depend on what they count as 'certification of qualification', but plenty of people who have already got Red Seal/AIT etc, so if that does count then they'll be able to apply in Jan.

My understanding is that it will be free for all, up to a cap limit.

New FSW1 is expected to be the same. Personally I believe new FSW1 will have a pretty low cap as well - maybe as little as 5000, but we won't know for sure until an announcement is made.

I can't imagine we will be too far into 2013 before the caps for both are filled. Although, since on the new website CIC changed the comment regarding the new FSWP from "early 2013" to just "2013", this may be an indication that it's going to be delayed a while.

Wayne.
