Default New changes to immigration March 2008

My Fiancee and I applied for PR in October 2007. I would just like to know if our application will take longer to process now as any applicants that have applied after March 2008 will be processed before ours. Is this correct? If so does anyone know how many years we will have to wait?

Would it be advisable to cancel our application and apply again so that we qualify for the new changes in the hope that our application will get processed faster?

Thanks for any advice

I don't understand how they(march 08) will get processed before you, I was under the impression that if the new law is passed that they will be processed differently but not before or everybody would be withdrawing and starting again.

Maybe Andrew could give you an answer?

If amendments pass as tabled and new rules are in place as announced (no details though yet) then yes, it may happen. As a matter of fact it is already happening too when cases with arranged employment submitted for example in London in Sep '07 are already completed and visas issued, while cases without arranged employment submitted in 2006 are still waiting for their turn.

If March '07 applicant has no arranged employment and no skills in occupation in high demand then someone who has skills in high demand and submits application today may be processed under proposed rules with higher priority and gets visa years before such March '07 application will even be looked at.

This is what is being discussed in the sticky the top:

Andrew

Our AOR is May 2006 and we have not been able to secure an AEO, does this mean that people under the new rules who have skills high in demand but no AEO may also be processed before us?

Thanks
Danny

So how ablout people like us who have already applied? Do we get processed without having to have a job in demand and just wait our turn in the queue?
