I have read in many messages that the new bill c-11 proposes that permanent
residents need to be present in Canada for 2 out of 5 years to maintain permanent
residence. However I have read elsewhere that the 2 out of 5 years will be the
"minimum" stay reqiured. And that the current policy of 183 days will continue. Can
someone clarify. Thanks

Just wait until the Bill C-11 is approved in it's final form. At this stage still
many things, including residency requirement can change.

The bill proposes a wider period to allow for globalization. 2-5 was = the plan. We
will have to see what comes.

Also, residency was defined as physical residence wereas now there is a = more loose
definition with room for interpretation.

Also, there was a part where even permanent residents could be turned = out of Canada
without recourse. =20

And, some more crazy things too. We will have to wait for the Act and = Regulations.
