Default Need your help!

Hey guys

My friend is thinking about moving to Canada , He has been in the building trade for 4 and a half years and is a fully qualified electrification. how easy/difficult would it be for him to get a Skill trade visa and move out here? he's English and 22 years of age?

Many Thanks!

Unfortunately, without knowing everything about him we can't tell you if he'd qualify for the Skilled Trades program or not. Best thing to do is get him to look at the CIC website for himself and he can figure out if he is eligible.

A CRB is no use to him anyway, he'd need an ACPO for an immigration application - but do tell him not to get one yet as it must be less than 3 months old when submitted, and it'll probably take him longer than that to be ready to apply!

But things like his language abilities, whether he's got enough proof of funds, his education, etc, would be required to tell him if he'd qualify for the ST program. He'll need to look at the CIC website to see if he does.

If he's serious, tell him to get cracking with it, as there is a cap on the number of applications for each occupation that qualifies under the Skilled Trades program, and chances are electricians will be one of the first to fill their quota. First thing he'll need to do is to get his credentials assessed, and to book his IELTS exam (as there is normally a wait of a couple of months for a test slot, so he should book it and then start gathering the rest of the paperwork).

HTH.
