Default Need advice and a helpping hand..

I am a natrual Canadian Citizen.. I have an American wife, and step
daughter, also have a daughter through our marridge.. What do I need to do
to return back to Canada with my family in tote.. I was advised by a good
source that I should return to Canada with my natrual daughter and start the
paper work rolling from there.. What would I need to do to return to home??
I can get a noterized document from my wife stating I have the right to
remove our daughter from the US.. I am trying to understnad the sponsership
thing.. For my wife it would be three I have to provide it the sponsership
and the step daughter I understand is 10yrs.. Help me understand this part
of the sponsership. Do I have to show $10 000 in a bank account to qualify
to sponser my wife and step daughter? How can you not qaulify to sponser? If
it is a hardship to show this kind of money can my wife and step daughter be
refused entry into Canada? I will check back later today for a reply etc..

TIA....

Well I have looked at CIC's website... Did I mention it is a seriously
terrible read that I can't seem to get the answers I am looking for...I had
a lot easier time understanding the US Immigration forms rather than the
Canadian ones.. Its nice to see a former Visa Officer has replied back
though.. Perhaps we can discuss this a little deeper later.. I need to get
to bed... Been a long night of work...

TTFN.. Sorry for the top posting...

It is not that complicated, providing that you do everything properly. As a
Canadian citizen you may sponsor your wife and stepdaughter while you are
still in US - all you need is to provide your sworn declaration of intention
to move back to Canada once they get visas. On the other hand if you are in
the hurry to move back to Canada then it is possible to just pack and come
over with your family and sponsor them from within Canada - but again, it
must be done properly. The choice is yours and should be made based on your
moving plans. Note that processing outside Canada is quite faster (4 to 8
months) than within Canada (8 to 14+ months).

Hey Andrew and Jim..

I have been lead to believe it was faster for me to start the paper
work inside of Canada to get my best half and kidlet up north.. This was
mentioned to me by a fellow who immigrated to Canada from the US and also by
an Immigration officer. Now the part I am having some touble with as well is
the what does it take to qaulify as a sponser? From what I understand I
should have $10 000 in cash in a bank account for my wife alone so that I
can sponser her.. I also understand it is better that my wife is late 20's
early thirties. Also her education may help? She is approximately three
classes short of having her AA.. I am worried sick that I might not be able
to sponser her and my step daughter? Is there a hardship clause that might
help us? TIA..

Minimum income requirement is waived when sponsoring a spouse, common-law
spouse or partner, or conjugal partner.

It also applies to your stepdaughter as long as she is a dependent child of
your spouse and doesn't have children on her own. Please read section 133(4)
of Regulations here:

http://www.canlii.org/ca/regu/sor2-227/sec133.html

As far as processing time goes - anywhere from 4 to 12+ months, depending
mainly from quality (and completeness) of application package as well as
nationality and countries of current and previous residence of sponsored
spouse.

Andrew,
I think between my wife and I, we can produce a qaulity
application, I know too that here only country of residence has only been
the US as she is a US citizen. I know that CIC will not pay any favours
just because she is an American, nor do I expect them to. One of the things
we are waiting on is an issue that my wifes Attorney is handling. This is
the stickey part, we do not know when a settlement will be reached between
the parties ( this is a civil matter so there is no problems with records
etc... ). From past exp. in dealing with US Immigration I am certain we can
make our way through the Canadian system. If you have any more links like
the last one it would be appreciated.. Or perhaps there is a webring I can
read as well..
