Default Is it necessary to have a machine readable passport for getting visa stamped???

Hi,

I have got an old handwritten passport with two machine readable uk visas on it. In such a case is it necessary for the applicant to have a machine readable passport for visa stampting at CHC?

Thanks everyone.

I do not believe Canada has a requirement for a Machine Readable Passport for entry to the country as a friend of mine travelled last year on one. However if you want to go to the US while you are residing in Canada you cannot do so without a MRP.

Hi Ben,

Thanks a lot for your reply, I want to ask you one more question, when you have received your ppr, was there any specific time limit mentioned on it for getting the visa stamped on your passport from CHC?

Thank you once again.

You have 60 days from the date on the letter requesting your passport in which to supply your passport to CHC for insertion of the visa. If you do not supply your passport within this time limit then your application will be refused.

That is correct.

This should read : "if you want to go to the US using the visa waiver scheme"

Holders of U.S. tourist and other non-immigrant visas do not need to have MRPs.
