Hello
I had a couple of questions regarding immigration under Skiller Worker
category.
1. While calculating work experience, do you count work experience
after you have defended your thesis till you actually get the degree?
If a person defended his thesis for Ph.D. in June of 1999 and started
his postdoctoral work right away but received his degree next year (in
June of 2000- because thesis defense was after 1999 convocation),
would the work during that year be counted as work experience? Please
note that the person was doing same kind of work before and after
(independent research).
2. If the person is a research associate during Ph.D. and considered
an employee of the school, is that counted towards work experience?
Thank you for your consideration,
Sincerely
Samir Bhagwat

Skilled work experience can be counted regardless the education, as long as it
is a paid work in one or more occupations listed in top 3 bands of NOC and
duties performed match such in NOC description for particular occupation(s). In
your case working as research assistant during PhD process (as long as it was
paid employment) as well as full time work you started immediately after
defending your thesis will count.
