Mr. Miller - Q. on extension of visit visa
Hello Mr. Miller:
My parents are visiting us on visit visa for a 6 month period, which
is expiring in next 2 months.(originally 2 year multiple-entry visa).
Visit Visa application asks for reason for extension.
We want our parents to stay with our family for another 6 months ( 1
time extension possible for maximum 6 months). There is no particular
reason as such; they would like to be here as much as possible with
the family and their grand-kids.
Would they get extension?
I thank you for your time and patience

Re: Mr. Miller - Q. on extension of visit visa
P.S.
Will they get extension? How would I know? They may or may not get
extension, although if it is the first visit and first extension applied for
then there is quite good chance that it will be granted.

Re: Mr. Miller - Q. on extension of visit visa
Thank you Mr. Miller for your reply. The reason i wanted to confirm
was:
My Parents also have a US multi-entry visa (B1) for 6 months which
expires 2 months after the expiry of Canadian Visit Visa.
So between extending visa while they are in Canada OR they could go to
USA say, 15 days before their canadian visa expiry and come back to
Canada (as it is 2 year multi entry visa)....
Thank you again for your patient reading.

Re: Mr. Miller - Q. on extension of visit visa
If they will go for short period to US and then try to re-enter Canada then
most likely they will not get another 6 months admission - in such cases
officer usually gives admission only to the end of the original admission.
Don't play games, just apply for extension.

Very likely, but there are no guarantees. Even if they got a visa
approved beforehand, if they leave Canada, the immigration officer can deny
entry if it is considered there are valid reasons for doing so.
Good luck.
