Mr.Miller , please help " Confirmation of Permanent Residence"

Dear Mr.Miller,

I have read a CIC fact sheet No 22 describing the “automatic” procedure
for PR card issue to newly arrived immigrants. Here is the quote from the fact sheet:

PERMANENT RESIDENT CARD The Card will be issued first to newly arriving
immigrants starting on June 28, 2002, as part of the immigration process. The
information and photograph on the individual's Confirmation of Permanent
Residence document will be confirmed by a CIC official upon a permanent
resident's arrival in Canada. Once verified, a Card will be manufactured and sent
to the new permanent resident in the mail.

I would be grateful if you can clarify some issues related to the quote:
1. What represents this “Confirmation of Permanent Residence” document?

2. Is this “Confirmation of Permanent Residence” document will be handed
over to us by the immigration officer just after the arrival at the airport?

3. Or we need to settle somewhere in Canada and then we need to go to the local CIC
office and get the confirmation by the local CIC official?

4. Do we need to bring photographs for this document at arrival?

5. Do you have some idea how long it will take PR card to be issued?

I understand that for the “old “ residents it will take some months.

It is the IMM 1000 or Record of Landing and it will still be issued to all
Immigrants. It is what you present at the POE when you arrive in Canada to be landed.
