Default Moving to Kelowna - Where to start?

Hi there, I've been lurking around for a while but the more I read the more I am getting myself confused and the more options seem to be opening themselves up to me.

I am looking to move to Kelowna to be with my girlfriend in October 2013. As far as I can see I have several ways of doing this but I'm not 100% sure which would be best.

I am an IT engineer and I believe I could apply for a Visa as a skilled worker. However to do this I need a job offer in place, but I can't secure a job without a visa. Seems like a viscous circle. How do people get around this?

I am extremely interested in perusing a new career totally when I move and I am strongly considering taking the study option when I apply for a visa, however study visa's state that you must leave the country once the course is complete. Is this true or could I then apply for permanent residency?

My girlfriend is a Canadian citizen, would it be worth applying for a visa as a family member as we do intend on marrying and settling down together as soon as things settle down.

I am getting myself more and more confused by the day. I just want to live and work in the same country as my girlfriend

If a UK citizen and 30 or under then the IEC visa is a good start which enables you to work.

This programme should open this month and no job offer is required.
Read link to see if you qualify.
Failing that if you have lived together for 12 months or longer your gf might be able to sponsor you as common law

If you are studying for a degree in a recognized Canadian institution it is possible to go from a Study Permit to PR but you have to do it in two steps.
