Default Moving to Canada as an Industrial multi-skilled engineer

Hello. I've applied for an IEC and I am waiting to get accepted ( I know its all stopped currently due to COVID and it takes a while to get anyway). I am a trained multi-skilled maintenance technician and I've had 22 months of experience after completing my apprenticeship. I got a level 3 NVQ extended diploma in engineering systems with an electrical bias. When I get an IEC visa I'm planning on doing any job I can get at first but I would like to be able to do industrial maintenance engineering in Alberta and potentially get permanent residency after this. I know I'm getting ahead of myself and I might choose not to do it but I was just looking for some advice. What do I need to do to be able to do this (Do I need an HNC or HND for permanent residency)and are there any short courses that I could take to help me get a job when I go?

Thank you in advance for any replies.
