Cara had a telephone interview yesterday, and great news she got offered a job with a starting salary of $60k, which is great. nice big pay rise from her UK salary and she was expecting to take a pay cut initially!!! thats working in calgary for a building firm.

now from previous posts im sure some of you know our circumstances. im a police officer, but also a canadian permanent resident. our house sale is going through, and ive given work notice that im leaving and then we are off to canada as soon as the sale finalises. im part way through a calgary police application and ultimately i plan to join them. however im going back to canada whatever as i was lucky to be allowed to keep my PR status despite a long absence. Cara will initially most likely accompany me as a visitor.

now cara and myself are married, but she has no canadian status. i got my PR when my parents emmigrated when i was 16. her new employer is sorting out the LMO so she can get a work permit.

now to the questions,

obviously i plan to sponser Cara as a spousal PR. however i can only do this once im back in canada and working?? i think this is the case but if someone can confirm.

now as i said we plan to be in canada in the next few weeks. and the chances are Cara's LMO wont be done by then. so what are her options for applying for her work permit until her PR application goes through?

i believe she can only apply from inside Canada for a work permit once her PR application is underway, now as stated i cant do that until i get back there, and obviously cara will need to come then too as our house will be sold and she would have nowhere to live, and we wouldnt want to live apart.

now the way i see it it will take months for her to get the work permit here in the UK, and we will have already left by then. so how do you all suggest is best to do it?

seems a bit of a catch 22, i cant sponser her until we get there, but until i start sponsering her she cant get there as anyhting other than a visitor.

her new prospective employer are great, and are willing to wait. but obviously cara doesnt want to not work for months after we arrive.

does anyone have any ideas or personal experiences of similar?

thanks and sory for the long post.

Yes, only citizens can sponsor from outside Canada.

I don't know anything about your other questions, I'm moving the post to Immigration where hopefully someone will.
