Default more RCMP woes

Ok -

I appled in Nov 03, got my IA and medicals and interview waiver in Jul 04. I did my medicals last week. The IA form does not ask me to go for an RCMP clearance. (ive been in canada for more than 3 years)

Based on what I was reading on this list i thought of doing my RCMP fingerprint clearance on my own and get the results sent to CIC buffalo on time.

The spanner in the works is that the local RCMP said that they need to see a letter from the consulate that specifically asks me to submit my fingerprints to the local RCMP. They also said that they wont do my fingerprints otherwise.

what do i do ? I know atleast 5 other people, with almost identical applications as mine, who have received their IAs without a request for fingerprints.

Somewhere in a guide it says not to apply for an RCMP certificate unless asked, so relax.
