The new Minister of Immigration, Denis Coderre, seems to be very open to reviewing
the new immigration regulations - and perhaps even modifying them - before
implementation (see this CP news article http://ca.news.yahoo.com/020124/6/hpwi.html
) At a parliamentary meeting Jan 29, he was criticised for what other MPs say are new
immigration regulations that "suck" and are even discriminatory (CBC News http://www-
.cbc.ca/cgi-bin/templates/view.cgi?/news/2002/01/29/coderre_immigration020129 )

Hopefully, if enough of us write in and say why the proposed regulations are too
stringent, he will consider adjustments. I encourage you to write in with a polite &
well-reasoned letter. His address is:

Denis Coderre, P.C., M.P. Minister of Citizenship and Immigration Jean Edmonds Tower
South 365 Laurier Avenue West Ottawa, Ontario K1A 1L1

Or e-mail: [email protected]

Remember, the new Immigration & Refugee Protection Act (Bill C-11, http://www.parl.g-
c.ca/37/1/parlbus/chambus/house/bills/government/C-11/C-11_4/C-11_cover-E.html ) will
not change unless you express your opinions. You can also contact CIC itself (see
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/about/policy/imm-act.html ) to state your case.
