Anyone with recent experience of medicals and mental health issues?
would be so grateful for any pointers and experiences
in my case I did lose the plot well over a year ago and it will probably 18 months between any problems and the actual medical.
I had panic attacks and anxiety related to a death in the family and house/business selling stress. I was on medication and with within days off coming off medication I was 100% cured ( a case of the treatment being far worse than the disease)
since then I have orgainsed and successfully moved to Canada, got involved in a very big way with 4 community groups min Canada completed immigration application forms etc bought property in canada attended a community identified interview and got a fantastic letter of recomendation etc etc etc
eg absolutlry could not have done any of this if i was panic attack prone or in the least bit anxiuos so proof enough I am cured
( not to say im not in a total panic re immigration who isnt
)
does anyone have any idea if this is going to cause probs at the medical stage and if so what I might do to prepare?
I have my uk medical record but it shows the the problem as current which of course it itsnt I havent been near a doctor since 2007.
We dont have a doctor in Canada we havent registered Im wondering if we should so we can prove we dont have any problems?
any advice hugely appreciated
thanks

I'm not a medical expert, I'm just giving my opinion, but I think you'll be fine in relation to the medicals. What they are looking for is if a medical condition is either going to be drain on canadian health resources, or cause health problems for other Canadians. From your description, it appears that your mental health issue happened once, and since then you've been fine. I don't believe that would be cause for you to fail your medical (as I say, i'm not a CHC medical expert), but I don't think that your past condition would be cause for you to fail your medical.

I second the above opinion...
CIC are looking for problems that are likely to cause a threat to public health or excessive demand on the health care system.
Provided your mental health problems were not of the killing rampage variety !!! You should be Ok.
HOWEVER , i would go to your GP , get them to document the fact that you are no longer receiving treatment and the reasons for the problems. Take this to your meds. be prepared to answer questions about it , in extreme cases a specialist report might be required. I only mention this so you can be prepared for the very worse case

sorry , missed the bit about you being in Canada and GPless ( as are a lot of us over here !!)
Just get what you can from whoever has the info .....
Be honest if asked about things but don't volunteer any info that you don't need to
