Oh, well. Lets see what happens on the day.

As soon as the medicals are done, I am getting a takeaway!

Do you know where you are headed in Canada? What work do you and your OH do? My husband is a software engineer and I used to be a commercial contracts specialist.

Kind regards

Kelly
Hi Kelly,

Yes it is surprising how much money the medicals cost all in all.

My OH is vehicle mechanic and is just finishing his 22years in the Army and now is also a recognised journeyman in Canada. We are moving to Okotoks and have a rental apartment lined up. I am like yourself a commercial contracts specialist and although I love my job have decided to work part time in Canada to be able to spent more time with our daughter.

LOL - small world- re: in the same line of work!

I haven't investigated getting a job for myself in Canada - as yet. From what I have seen, it seems to not be problem. I have worked for international US brand companies, so hopefully, it shouldn't be too difficult.

Do you know whether you will be able to work part-time in your field? Mine is IT/Telecoms.

Can I be nosey and ask how you got a rental lined up? I have heard that there are many on-line sites such as Craiglist, etc and it is just a case of calling and securing a deposit.

Small world indeed, I am commercial manager for a huge R&D company and again, jobs seem to be plentifull in Calgary.

As for rental, we made contact with a relocation company who have rental apartments just for that. The rate is very reasonable, they pick you up from the airport and take you around the houses to sort out your SIN, cars, schools, Medicare etc and all they ask is that you buy your first home through their realtor business. In our case we are very happy to do so, as the couple whose business this is, immigrated 11 years ago and have a very good understanding of what we are going through. It also helps that their offices are in the town we are moving to, giving us confidence that they know the town and different neighbourhoods very well.

Thanks for the information.

If we do decide on Calgary, I may contact you to ask for the details of the relocation company.

How funny to find another commercial manager - anyone else out there?

Do you know when you are leaving the UK? For us, its undecided at the moment - but maybe in the next 12-18 months. Getting the medical request really made it all so very real.

Medicals-further investigations

My wife is having to go to a Cardiologist because she cant get her blood pressure down, (anxiety and stress from the medicals), if further investigations are needed and the 90 days runs out do we have to ask for an extension of time or are we set a new time period?
