Post Medicals done-feeling negative

I had to declare that i had 6 months off sick with work related stress last year.
Also opted out of testicle exam, the Doctor informed me it was ok not to, but i cant help feeling i should have said yes.

also the other half

has to have BP done three times at separate times by GP to be forwarded onto them, and blood in urine, possibly because 2 weeks to period. Also Dr has put wifes high BMI on medical form.

Just wondered if anyone had a similar background and experience?

I was on medication for a short period of approx 6 months due to anxiety/stress and having to declare this at the medical im sure made me feel worse! Anyway I just took along a letter from my GP who basically said that he had seen me in surgery and I was now not taking any further meds and that in his opinion I was fine!! We got our pprs weeks later.

There are numerous threads on here regarding blood pressure,I'm sure that if your wife relaxes a little more with her own GP she will be fine.

Good luck

Jim, I am sure everything will be fine. My OH has high blood pressure controlled by medication and we just provided a letter from our GP confirming the detail. I had a high BMI and this didn't cause a problem, the DMP just asked if I wanted to know how much weight I needed to lose to get to BMI 25.

My eldest son suffered from childhood epilepsy and although he has now grown out of this our file was passed for further review by the Medical Division at CHC in London. This probably only delayed things by 2-3 weeks but we now have our shiny visas!

Try not to worry I am sure everything will be fine!

Don't worry too much about it (easier said than done), I had a high BMI due do being "a big muscular chap", he was possibly just being kind though!

I had to have my blood pressure taken by my local GP a few days after the meds as it was a little high, but was fine when re-tested.

There is a good chance that you will not be allowed entry into Canada though, for being a panzie for not letting the Doctor feel your Town Halls!

feel for you on this one , which is more than you let the doc do

joking apart I have exact same issues so Im wishing you all the luck in the world and from what I have read you will be fine

I also had a 6 months spell of loss of marbles and this was only in 2007 so just over a year ago

I had pills and had to see a shrink twice horror of horrors no hospitalisation though

in anticipation ( not even got med requests yet) I have a letter from the shrink saying diagnosis - gen anxiety disorder, treatement - pills - prognosis -excellent

did you see a shrink or anythign did you have drug treatment?

Im just thinking it might save you some time now if you pre empt any further request for info by getting a letter from your GP or shrink if you were seen by one and sening this off? or did the DMP say all will be fine without further info?

as for BP I have also got a letter to take with me confriming BP fine over several readings white coat victim etc

blood in urnine - very common around time of month
I have got some urine test strips so I can be sure on day of med all will be ok

very cheap from amazon and sure has put my mind at rest

I have read everything possibel on meds and believe me that is a lot of reading and worrying and I really think you will be perfectly fine

only time anyone ever gets refusal seems to be disbaled kids and contagious disease and even then they eventually get in

i did research the stats on refusals and they are in one of my postings ages ago the refusals on med grounds are miniscule

how many folk on BE for example get refused honestly they dont despite us all stressing for months and months
huge luck and please keep us informed

Hi

Thanks for the info - our nearest Medical one is Slough so we will be going there.

Ah, as we have an 8-month old baby, I think the medical for him will be slightly different.

I am also overweight, but otherwise healthy, I do worry about the BMI, but I guess after having a baby it is coming off - slowly!

To be fare, if i had not been asked if i objected to the exam i wouldnt have said anything, but when posed with the question from a female Doctor, too many what ifs went through my mind.

I didnt see a shrink, but he did give me some calming tablets, which after fourteen days stopped taking as they scared the hell out of me, (palpitations and anger over silly things). I found fresh air and walking much better.

I think most people suffer from BP, especially when you are stressed out. I hate seeing the Doctor-I haven't done it much touch wood, I would sit in a dentist chair all day - but thought of the Doctor gets my pulse racing---don't know why

Anyway I am sure you will be fine and we are all rooting for you !!!

We had ours done in Slough, who are you going with?

As for high BP, I suffer with this and am on lifelong tablets and also do not have the ideal BMI, but all that didn't stop them from giving us our visas. I also delcared that some years ago I was on anti-depressants and the DMP told me that was not nothing to worry about. All the Canadian Medical Officer is worried about is that you don't have any contagious deseases, they specifically look for signs of TB on your chest ex-rays or any other long term illness which could be a drain on their system.

Not sure on the medical for baby's, but our 10year old daughter had pretty much the same as us, excluding the chest x-ray and blood tests.

Good luck all!

Hi Simone,

Thanks for the reply!

Yeah, medicals booked for Slough. I didnt realise how many different people we had to pay for the different bits of the medicals!

Oh, well. Lets see what happens on the day.

As soon as the medicals are done, I am getting a takeaway!

Do you know where you are headed in Canada? What work do you and your OH do? My husband is a software engineer and I used to be a commercial contracts specialist.

Kind regards

Kelly
