Default medicals crohns

hi all...
just wondering if anyone has an idea if crohns disease will affect PR when taking medicals.

We hope to come over to ontario on work permit next june/july and then apply for PR whilst there. We are using WBC to arrange all this.

We just have one potential stumbling block.

My partner was diagnosed with crohns disease approx 12 months ago. It is controlled by steroids and when symptoms are low then it can be controlled by good diet and no drugs. But may need steroids again if a flare up occurs.

We are just wondering what effect this will have on the medicals. WBC inform us that they cant see an issue but just looking for more piece of mind. wonder if anyone has actually been through this.

many thanks...great forum here..

Hi there and welcome to the forum.

From what I understand, medical inadmissability is when the applicant will cost over a certain level in drugs/medical treatment etc each year so you'll need to find out how much the steroids will cost for your partner. The limit I believe is $5,000 per year. But presumably if steroids aren't required often then you should be fine and well under that limit.

Good luck.

To add to what christmasoompa has told you, there is a Wiki article called Medical Conditions-Canadian Immigration.

Fingers crossed for you.

My OH has Crohns and it wasn't a problem when we had our medicals. It is under control from medication and flare ups are few and far between. In fact, since moving here most symptoms have gone ( may be it's just in the mind rather than the bowel...?!)
