Default Medical Results ..... Further tests

Just got a call from our immigration people saying CHC has requested further tests from me 7-weeks to the day from taking meds

I have to take a sputum test to confirm that whatever they've found on my x-ray is 'inactive' TB I went into an immediate panic and looked up the symptoms of TB on the net and I don't have any single symptom listed. I also had the BCG injection at school.

that this will turn out to be just a set back in our application and nothing horrible but can't help but worry though.......

I seem to remember that this has happened to a number of people in the past and it all turned out OK. I quick search should throw up some reassuring information.

Don't worry too much we had problems as well, do a quick forum search and you will come up with plenty of help and advice, I came up with this one, there are plenty of other it appears to be a regular thing CHC asking for TB testing.

Neither of us have a cough, neither of us are showing any signs of TB.

We had to go back to our original DMP ($50 each), she explained what had come up on previous x rays, I had a calcification on mine and my daughters x ray was not clear. We were able to go to our local lab for the testing (which just involved dropping the three pots off).

To be honest we didn't find any of it a problem, just incredibly annoying as it has slowed our application down...........

We are expecting all of our results to reach our DMP in the next two weeks, we have not had to see specialists here in Canada.

Hi Binty
I had the same problem with x-rays etc. Look at our previous posts.
For me it was a positive outcome. Repeat x-ray and sputum was negative and then having satisfied the Public Health here in Canada having more x-rays and sputum tests, all negative.

keep positive and good luck.

Me too - I received a phone call in June from my DMP's office, telling me CIC thought I had TB as they had seen a "calicified nodule" on my xray, and was given an appointment with a TB specialist (major $$$) for September! (so much for urgency!!).

I couldn't produce sputum due to not having a cough or any other symptoms and so had to undergo a couple of skin tests (negative). 3 months later I had a 2nd xray and a 2nd appointment with the specialist, everything was clear and the specialist said she knew I didn't have, nor had ever had, TB but she had to go through the motions.

I just wish they had agreed to a 2nd xray once the "calicified nodule" showed up - it had disappeared (miraculously, lol) on the 2nd xray. My mother had TB and I supposedly (theoretically) have immunity due to this, but that wasn't taken into consideration. I didn't have a BCG as the initial test showed I was immune!

All in all it cost me 6 months of time and around $500

Keeping my fingers crossed your goes a lot quicker and that everything is fine.

Hi All,

Spoke to DMP yesterday. He told me not to worry about the test and that CIC can be extremely picky. I have probably at some time in the past come into contact with TB (as so many of us have), my body would have dealt with this but it leaves a little mark. CIC just want confirmation that it is inactive.

The good news is that I don't have to have this test done privately, just go through my GP then send the report to the DMP who will then send them to CIC. Have an appointment with GP on Friday morning.

Will let you know how it goes

Oh that's at least something! So once you have that test done by your regular GP you just send in the letter and that should be it? Huh... I am crossing all available fingers for you that everything works out and they send you your PPR soon!!!!
