Default Medical extensions now available...

Came across this Operational Bulletin yesterday, regarding the discretion to extend medical certificates:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resourc...2012/ob423.asp

"The process applies to cases where a final decision of an officer is pending only due to the expiration of a medical certificate or when the validity of the medical certificate is about to expire and the applicant is unable to land before it expires. This process is limited to applicants who had a routine immigration medical examination (IME) done by a panel physician within the last 15 months in or outside Canada. The new medical certificate issued will be valid for 12 months."

This is both good and bad news for Jan-Aug 2011 Buffalo applicants like myself that have been transferred to CPP-Ottawa. Good in that we likely don't have to pay for another medical, bad in that they can now string out the process even longer.

Note though if you read the bulletin, the medical extension request is if the medical is the ONLY thing holding up the COPR and it expired less than 3 months previously.
