Default Medical Examination

Just returned from a trip to Alberta and have a job offer just need to wait for a positive LMO,!

Does any one know if a manager within a supportive living establishment for seniors requires a medical or is it only those members of staff who provide 'hands on care'

Can you arrange a medical examination by an approved CIC panel physician and then produce this at POE to obtain your TWP or is my only option to apply for my TWP through CIC before we land? Really hope this is not the case as this will take way longer and may jepordise the job offer

Any advice greatfully recieved

Wouldn't be surprised if you need a medical and no it can not be done before POE. You will have to apply to your local Canadian embassy and once they review your application they will send forms for you to then organize medical

As you've been advised on previous threads (maybe have a re-read of them?) you can't get a TWP at POE if you require a medical. You have to apply for the TWP via London then wait for a medical request. You can't just go and have a medical, it needs to be requested by CIC.

Expect it to add on a couple of months to the 8-10 week processing time for a TWP. It used to add about six months, it seems to have sped up considerably recently.

And IMO as you'll be working in a facility with the elderly (I know you won't work with them directly, but IMO CIC will still see it as working in 'an occupation that brings you in to close contact with people', for which a medical is required), you will need a medical, but doublecheck that with CIC.

You will definitely need a medical as you will be in the healthcare sector. Even as a manager, there will be times when you will be needed on the floor with the need for an occasional hands on.

Most employers are very understanding of the process and will make allowances for that.
Good luck with the application.
