Default Medical Examination

Hi Everyone!

I am confused! Do I need to have a Medical examination to work in Canada? I don't want to work with children yet, but I may study to become teacher in the very long term. Can I have a medical examination once in Canada if I decide to take this route?

For now I want to obtain a temporary work permit to work as a Graphic Designer.

Thanks

Z

Short answer - it depends on your visa.

Long answer - any PR application would need a medical, for a TWP you'd only need one if you were working in certain occupations i.e. healthcare or with kids. So your TWP for a graphic designer job (which would tie you to that job) would mean you didn't need one, but if you wanted to get a new TWP to work as a teacher, then yes you would.

Having said that, by the time you wanted to study to become a teacher you'd probably be a PR anyway, so it wouldn't be required. And in case you're not aware, you'd have next to no chance of getting a TWP as a teacher, have a read of this for more info - http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Teaching_in_Canada

HTH.

In your current job no medical is required.
Yes you can have a medical in Canada later if required.

I am sure there are plenty of Canadians who are good designers! Eek!

Hope I can make it!
