Default Med requests but overweight

We've finally got med requests (4 years down the line) yea! I'm very over weight, how strict are they on weight? I'm healthy with only an atrial fibulation that is controlled. I am on a Slimming World diet. I can't believe it's come to this. Gutted.

Weight will have no effect on your application.

Hi, I'm overweight with medical problems and I got in! I used to joke that I was too old for Australia, too fat for New Zealand so we had to choose Canada lol. Don't worry I'm sure you'll be fine.

The answers don't change with your username. If you're Meg Snow then you started this thread.

First, please try not to bump old threads, this one is almost a year old!

Second, medical inadmissibility simply depends on how much you ate going to cost the health care system. If it's more than about $6k/year then you can be rejected. How much does it cost to treat arrhythmia?

Obviously it didn't bother them as we now have PR and living in Calgary! Husband had to have up to date reports from his cardiologist who confirmed he had no damage to his heart (he had a heart attack 4 years ago and is on meds to keep his cholesterol and blood pressure low, bisoprolol and aspirin) and I have an atrial fibrillation and take bisoprolol. I had to provide an up to date report from my cardiologist which luckily I had as i was signed off from cardiology 5 months before. Not sure how much the meds cost as we haven't had to renew the prescription yet.

medications will cost you a lot more than in the UK, I think

Aspirin is not on prescription, so far as I know .............. certainly we have never been prescribed, it's an over the counter drug

I'm on medication for cholestrol and high blood pressure ............. but I have never been prescribed bisopropol, so cannot say how much that costs you

I spend around $1000-1500 a year on prescriptions for those two ailments, plus about another $2000 for other medication

.................... thank heavens we have Extended Health Insurance or I would be paying the whole of that here in BC, instead of just the amount after $1000 deductible!

I am not MegSnow :-)
And yes I asked on an old thread because it was asking exactly what I wanted to ask.
Thank you MegSnow that is really great information about arrhythmia - it is all under control but I suppose anything about the "heart" and I suppose we panicked we might not get in :-)
I should have said I really cant remember what you pay for etc in the uk as we left there 8 years ago. We are coming from New Zealand with NZ citizenship :-)
Thanks again MegSnow so happy you made it and lets hope we are blessed as well :-)

tirytory

some things about the NHS are OK, especially the free prescriptions. Although they are being paid for somehow, probably out of taxes .................

but it seems not if you need to get into a hospital!

sorry ............. but I have two friends currently trying to get treatment, and the nhs is failing them miserably

but then, I have no complaints about the health system here ........ the whole family, whether here in BC or in NS, has received timely treatment as needed.

I think 6 weeks from suspicious mammogram to diagnosis of breast cancer to lumpectomy to mastectomy is pretty good going, don't you?!
