Marriage of 2 immigration applicants

Hello everyone

I understand that if an applicant to canadian immigration gets married during the application process, the immigration office ahould be notified about the changes, and the paper work of the other spouse could be submitted. What if 2 immigration applicants with 2 separate immigration applications are getting married. The immigration office notification is must, but does anyone have an idea of how the 2 applications would be processed afterwards. Would they be combined into one application? Would there be any delays associated with the process? is it easier to keep the marriage plans on hold until after the 2 separate applications are completed?

Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

each of the applicants has to add their dependent's info, education etc in their respective cases with money.
there is no need to withdraw either of the cases.
