Default London checklist

Hi all, sorry in advance for the long post

The 'London specific' checklist on the CIC site ( http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/E37023.pdf ) dated 12/2004 differs significantly from the checklist available through the Canadian High Commission site in London ( http://www.canada.org.uk/visa-info/f...d/e_swchck.pdf ), dated 03/2003. Common sense says use the more recent checklist, but we don't want to risk anything so early on in the process.

Specifically;

1. CIC checklist want 4 photos, with signature, DOB and eye colour on only ONE photo, all placed in an envelope sealed with a paper clip. The CHC checklist asks for 4 photos, ALL signed, DOB and eye colour put in an envelope and stapled to the form.

2. CHC want a Latin translation on the passport?!

3. The CHC checklist asks for most recent three months pay slips and bank statements - the CIC checklist does not.

4. The CHC checklist asks for an organisational chart and CVs- the CIC checklist does not.

5. The CHC checklist asks for proof of the common-law relationship - CIC does not.

6. The CHC checklist says to cut along each line of each section of the checklist itself and attach to each section of paperwork you have completed. The CIC checklist is a simple tick box form that you send complete with your application, no cutting required!

7. Finally, the CIC checklist does not mention the supplementary information' form that we've downloaded from the CHC site

Hope you can help

Thanks

Always submit at least what is required in both checklists.

I'm not sure where you got the Latin translation from, unless some hacker has put a spoof list on the CHC site . If it's a British passport you just need a photocopy of the page with the photo, name, dates, etc... you only need to translate to French or English if it's in a foreign language.

Thanks for both replies.

Mr Miller, I can understand that some of the differences can be addressed by simply sending what both checklists ask for, but where they contradict each other you need to choose which to follow;

i.e. stapling or clipping the envelope with the 4 photos in? Signing just 1 or all 4 of the photos?

I had an email from a fellow poster who is also concerned that they have now followed the wrong form, so hopefully you can help put both our minds at rest.

Thanks in advance

I'm pretty sure it just means 'latin script' which means the english alphabet (i.e. not in cyrillic)

Hi,

If you are applying through CHC London then I think it is safe to follow their checklist.

http://www.canada.org.uk/visa-info/f...d/e_swchck.pdf

We followed this checklist and recently got our medical requests.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Default Re: London checklist: Mr Miller please update

Sorry to push this to the top of the pile, but I wondered if Mr Miller could clarify the the points I raised regarding the CIC and CHC checklists contradicting each other please? I would hate to have the application turned down for the sake of a paperclip!

Many thanks

To be honest, you're probably being too anal: the CHC staff aren't monsters who'll send your application back at the slighest excuse... a small error probably won't matter. For example, I forgot to put 'n/a' for a couple of questions that didn't apply, but they still accepted my application.

Personally I just followed the CHC checklist, I didn't even read the CIC checklist as I assumed that it would be the same. That worked for me, at least to get past the AoR stage.

You're probably right Mark, but you must recall how intimidating 'starting out' was when you did it and, to be honest, the impression I get from this forum sometimes is that CHC are very pedantic if it suits them...I just don't want risk the wrath of some immigration officer who's had a bad morning at work!

Cheers for the reply though
