London application please advise

Folks

Sent my FSW application on 09 dec 09 and postal tracking showed CIO Sydney office received on 22nd dec 09. Still no reply in email or post…!

However I am already preparing my application for the next stage..i.e. London office application and docs. But I am slightly confused on this part and will appreciate your advises.

1. How long should I wait to receive a reply from CIO, Sydney office? Do they respond in my email or post or both?

2. Should I use the visa office specific request form for London? http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/E37023.pdf

3. I do have a copy of the original application sent to CIO, Sydney. Will it be ok to send this copy to London office?

4. Can I obtain police certificate now or is there a time limit (i.e how old the certificate can be?)

5. Proof of funds: Not sure what the ‘Personal Net Worth Statement’ form in the London office website is for…Anyone been requested to send this? (http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca....aspx?lang=eng)

6. Who all can notarise/attest the copies of certificates etc..? please advise on the cheapest option.

7. Finally, the best method to submit the FSW application pack to London office (i.e postal or drop box or in person?)

thanks

Sorry, can't help with all your qs as we are old queue, but someone will be along shortly no doubt. However:

4. I would hold off on the police certs until you get your request for docs - they are only valid for three months.

6. Only a public notary can notarise docs and they aren't cheap. They do checks to make sure the quals etc are genuine and then attest to that. Some have used solicitors to certify a true copy, some haven't used anyone and just sent copies (loads on here about that - do a search for 'notary/notarise' - very hot topic!).

7. We took ours down by hand (see instructions on CHC website re dropping off docs) because we are a train ride away and wanted to make sure. Not everyone can do this and have used couriers and recorded delivery post so they can track the parcel.

Hi,

When we submitted our initial application to the CIO it took 1 mth for them to reply via email giving us our 120 day notice.

We then followed the guidance for the visa office specific instructions to prepare the documents for London but you will need a copy of the email from CIO to send with it along with your reference number on there.

We used the same application that we sent to CIO to send to London but were unsure if the signed and dated pages of the application would need to have 'todays' date on them so to speak (we're worriers!!) so we put the original ones in and a new updated signed page in as well with a note explaining.

Re police certificates they are valid I think for 3 months so would wait before applying. UK ones came back very quickly once applied for but we had to get ones from Cyprus and Holland for my husband and the Cypriot one was a nightmare!!!

For the proof of settlement funds we arranged for our bank to prepare a listing of the balances of our accounts which (hopefully!) has been sufficient. We've had our medical requests through now so I figure that this was okay for them.

Once everything was completed we googled locally for a notary and they seemed to be few and far between. Think it was about £300 from the top of my head to get everything notarised. Not cheap but then nothing is in this whole process! Hopefully well worth it though :fingerscrossed:

We then sent everything off to London via DHL.

Hope everything goes well for you and that you hear back soon.

Definitely not cheap. We shopped around for a notary, as you say, not many around, and had a wide range of quotes up to £280. Eventually got it done for £180. Local solicitors usually know the nearest notary.

This is a good link for recent timelines, I haven't seen anyone got theirs back from a Dec submission yet. (see also my timeline in signature

I only got my 120 day EMAIL - no letter

As far as I know, yes - the 120 day email contains all the links

Yes, unless you have since found any minor errors or have changes in circumatance.
4. Can I obtain police certificate now or is there a time limit (i.e how old the certificate can be?)
As already suggested, wait until the 120 day email arrives.

5. Proof of funds: Not sure what the ‘Personal Net Worth Statement’ form in the London office website is for…Anyone been requested to send this? (http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca....aspx?lang=eng)
Not looked into this yet..

6. Who all can notarise/attest the copies of certificates etc..? please advise on the cheapest option.
Public notaries can 'notarise', solicitors can 'certify' as far as I know - look around for various quotes. I'm planning to get them certified by my solicitor, but I think some on here might have not even done that - do a search for stoksey - he had a good thread on this topic.

Hope it all goes well.

Quick tip on notaries. Ask around, ask everyone you know if they know of any. We did this and it turned out a friend, of a friend, of a friend worked in a lawyers office and her boss was a notary public. She spoke to her on our behalf and explained that we were trying to immigrate and managed to get us a massive discount.:D
The whole process is costly so any money you can save for the actual move is always worth it.

Good luck
