Default LMO/TWP process - Regina, SK to Mumbai, India and back

Hi all,

I just received my TWP approval by courier today. 6 months to the day after I left Canada. It has been a long (I know not that long compared to some others on here) and painful wait, but it's definitely better late than never in this case.

Thought I'd put a timeline to my whole process for the benefit of others that might be in a similar situation currently or in the future.

I was studying and later working in Canada full-time. It would suffice to say that I was misinformed on the regulations, and I was also lazy which led to me not checking up on the information on my own. This led to me over-staying and working full-time without proper authorization. Once I discovered that I did not have the proper paperwork, I left Canada on May 31st and then the following events took place:

20/06/2011 - Applied for LMO

11/07/2011 - LMO rejected because HRSDC deemed wage rate was too low.

29/07/2011 - Applied for LMO for a second time with new, higher wage rate.

02/10/2011 - Received positive LMO

18/10/2011 - Application for TWP sent to CHC New Delhi

25/10/2011 - Received Medical Instruction Form

28/10/2011 - Completed Medical

04/11/2011 - Re-submitted passport after medical

07/11/2011 - Passport and medical results received by CHC New Delhi

01/12/2011 - Received W-1 TRV and LOI indicating that my application for a TWP has been approved.

I will be heading back to Regina in the middle of next week. I've been waiting so long that it hasn't even sunk in yet that I will be flying back next week. I was completely honest in my application and in my cover letter about the circumstances surrounding my over-stay, and I think that truly helped in the end.

Thank you all for your comments and advice! They are much appreciated.

Good luck to everyone still waiting!

Wow! thank you for the update/timeline! Really appreciate it. I just got my med req today. I am from Norway and applying for TWP as a Nurse NOC-A.

I need to ask you about the "overstaying". I may have a slight problem with that I was in Canada for 6 months and applied for an extension, after 5 months without any reply I called the cic and they said that they sent a mail to my address. They got a wrong address! So the mail never reached me at all... Although I was on implied status, I felt I overstayed because I didnt get the chance to explain to immigration that "that was their fault"... I need help...

I am new on the forum and I am yet to find out how to send PMsgs
Thanks so much!

I have removed your Skype ID, as any personal info (email adds etc) shouldn't be put on the open forum - people can contact you via your profile if they wish.

If you want to PM somebody, just click on their username when you've made a few more posts, and you'll be able to do so. It would be well worth you reading the Frequently Asked Questions which explains how to do things like that, and also the Newcomers to the Forum sticky thread (link in my signature).

I'd also suggest you start a new thread with a relevant title, so that our regular forum pros can help you out re: overstaying, so your question doesn't get lost on somebody else's thread.
