Depending on what route you take once you receive a positive LMO, the time varies. fFr example if you appy via a Canadian Embassy, they each have their own processing estimates for work permits. (The Embassy in London estimates 8-10 weeks to process a work permit)

If you apply at a POE, like when you land at the airport, the processing of your work permit application takes just hours...

(As a side note, dont know exactly how accurate the estimates were for anyone else, but for me, my work permit accetance came through in exactly the 10th week)

I am going through the process from outside Canada. It took me exactly 9 weeks to get my LMO. It's been 5 weeks and 4 days since I applied for my work permit, but who's counting? ;-)

I received instructions to get my medical done just 6 days after I sent my application in, and it says it takes 2 months for CHC in New Delhi to process work permit applications. So I guess I have 2-3 more weeks to go.

Unfortunately, loads of LMO's being refused at the mo - I can't recall exactly, but think something like 65% refusal rate. The economic climate has influenced things heavily, with so many Canadians out of work, so it will depend on your employers advertising efforts and them showing no suitable Canadians have applied.

Seems to be around 10-12 weeks for a LMO at the moment, although it does vary by province, so you should hear back by around mid January - fingers crossed it's good news!

My employers first 2 LMO applications were rejected due to rather small admin mistakes on his part. It is worth double checking that all the I's have been dotted and all the T's were crossed on your application. I've said it before and I will say it again, Service Canada do NOT take prisoners. Luckily my employer got it right on the 3rd attempt, I doubt if a lot of employers would be as bloody minded as mine thankfully is.
Good look anyway .
