Is LMIA needed for Animal Health Technologist?
Hi,
Do I need a LMIA to gain a work permit to work as an Animal Health Technologist (AHT) /Veterinary Technician (NOC 3213).
I am a microbiologist (with PhD), with a job offer, but not qualified/certified as an AHT.
Many Thanks

Yes.
These are the only LMIA exempt categories, they're for things like company transfers or spouses of those working on TWP's or studying in Canada - https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration...ion-codes.html
All occupations need a LMIA unless they come under one of those categories.
HTH.

Hi,
Thanks for your advice, both on LMIA and registration. The job title is debatable, as I would be working mainly in the laboratory doing some diagnostic work, research and method development, so could potentially go in as biologist.
Thanks
Emma

If a post-doc then it’s LMIA exempt.
